Initial consultations normally last between 30-45 minutes. In this time a detailed history and examinations are taken, to assess the nature of your problem and treatment is given.
Full Medical History
The consultation will begin with a detailed case history. It will include any previous medical history such as, any serious illness, accidents, broken bones, or operations which you have had since birth up to the present day. Any of these may have a bearing on your current problem.

Examination
Osteopathic examination is based upon knowledge of clinical anatomy, physiology and pathology. This will lead the Osteopath to an appropriate medical diagnosis. Explanations as to what is wrong with you and intentions of how to treat you will be given.
The Osteopath may need to refer to your doctor for further consultation and/or second opinion, which may be helpful in solving your problem.
As with your GP, all personal and clinical information is dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Osteopathic Treatment
The Osteopathic techniques and treatments used are individually selected and tailored to suit your needs. The treatment will be backed up by home advice and self help exercises which are specifically suited to aid you in a faster recovery.
