Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to see my doctor first?
We have many patients who are referred to us by their doctor but it is not necessary to visit them first. We might need to contact your doctor but would request your permission first.

I have a medical condition
If you have an underlying medical condition there are some osteopathic techniques that can harm you; because if this we would always take a full medical case history on your first visit, and again at subsequent appointments.

Do you accept Health Insurance schemes?
Yes we do.
We are registered with AXA PPP, HSA and other major health insurance companies. Please ask if you have any other health schemes. See Health Insurance.

Does treatment hurt?
In general, no, and with skilful handling there should be no major after effects. OsteoRestore Osteopaths are all highly trained and are taught how to manage patients who are in acute pain. You will be handled with the uttermost care.

How quickly will it take to feel better?
Recovery rates are all different depending on several factors including treatment provided, general health, fitness, your age, current problems, and sensitivity to treatment.

Will I have any side effects with treatment?
Very rarely you might experience some tiredness/soreness for a few days after treatment but this will subside quickly.

How long is each appointment?
Your first appointment is usually between 30-45 minutes. As it is the first time the Osteopath will see you, extra time is needed to take personal details, as well as a detailed full case history. Appointments after this are usually around 30 minutes long, although this is not a fixed duration. All patients are different and have different problems; therefore these times may vary from person to person.
